Maximum someone should pay for laptop repairs if it was bought for $900 second hand?

I bought my Fujitsu t4010 for about $900 on ebay last year, and it recently broke. What is the limit one should spend for repairs? I’m not sure what broke, but I think it overheated. It doesn’t turn on.
