Is it necessary to take training before taking CompTia A+ certification exam?

I would like to take the CompTIA A+ examination. I have no formal training in repairing computers (hardware and software) but i have more than 8 years doing it. Is my experience enough? or should i still take the trainings like Unitek.com and learningtree.com are offering. i need some advice…thanks!
